One of the twelve Olympians, Aphrodite (Ἀφροδίτη) is a major goddess in the Greek pantheon. She is associated with love, desire, beauty and sexuality. In mythology, she was married to Hephaestus, the god of fire, but was frequently unfaithful and had many lovers. Her Roman counterpart is Venus.
